Patrick Kane practices in the firm’s Commercial Litigation, Consumer Litigation, Insurance Recovery and Advisory, Intellectual Property Litigation, and Equine Law groups.
Prior to joining Maurice Wutscher LLP, he gained substantial experience in a variety of civil matters including business litigation, insurance recovery, foreclosure litigation, wrongful death, product liability, general tort litigation and general liability defense. He also has substantial experience in enforcing trade secrets, copyrights, and other intellectual property rights through litigation. Among other achievements, Patrick served as first chair in a five-day jury trial and served as second chair during a weeklong arbitration.
Patrick’s equine practice focuses on the representation of industry participants at administrative hearing and appeals, purchase and sale agreements, partnership and limited liability creation, gaming law, regulatory matters, and equine related negligence actions. His intimate knowledge of the equine industry, both from a business and regulatory perspective, allows him to solve equine related legal issues timely and effectively. In 2015, he was appointed to serve the California Horse Racing Board as a hearing officer.
In 2012, the San Diego Daily Transcript named Patrick a “Young Attorney of the Year.” This peer-nominated award focuses on young attorneys who are “hard-working and detail-oriented, knowledgeable and enthusiastic, ethical and professional, and committed to furthering the interests of justice in society.”
Patrick graduated from the University of San Diego School of Law. While attending the University of San Diego School of Law, he was published in the California Regulatory Law Reporter. He obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Arizona where he majored in Animal Science and was a graduate of the Race Track Industry Program. While attending the University of Arizona, Patrick received the Mildred Vessels Scholarship Award and the Race Track Industry Program’s Scholarship Award.
Patrick is a member of the San Diego County Bar Association and the American Bar Association, as well as the national Mortgage Bankers Association, the American Bankers Association, and DBA International.
He is admitted to practice law in California, Arizona, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and in the United States District Courts for the Southern, Central, and Eastern Districts of California.
