Maurice Speaks to Michigan Creditors Bar Association

Sept. 25, 2012 — Donald Maurice spoke to the Michigan Creditors Bar Association in Troy, Mich. on Sept. 25, at its Competing in an Environment of Compliance seminar.

Along with attorneys Kenneth Wake of Chicago and Charity Olson of Ann Arbor, Maurice discussed the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s new regulations for collection firms as well as recent state attorney general actions and FTC orders.

The panel also touched on how compliance and client audits can increase opportunities and managing information security and vendor risk.

Maurice & Needleman Named “Go-To Law Firm” for Fortune 500

Maurice Speaks at National Meeting

May 22, 2012 — Donald Maurice spoke recently on two topics — defending collection claims and compliance — at the Spring Meeting of the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys in San Diego, Calif.

Maurice was among a panel of attorneys who spoke on May 17 about handling counter-, third party and ancillary claims. Maurice spoke with attorneys Jay Arceneaux, John Bedard and David Schultz.

On May 18, Maurice spoke with attorney Kenneth Wake about “Billion Dollar Decisions: Protecting Your Client’s Brand.” The program addressed compliance issues faced by law practices and their clients.

Dominczyk Named Super Lawyers Rising Star

May 1, 2012 — Thomas R. Dominczyk has been named a New Jersey Rising Star in the area of Civil Litigation Defense by Super Lawyers.

Each year, attorneys are asked to nominate the best up-and-coming attorneys in the state for the Rising Stars designation. Only 2.5 percent of the lawyers in the state receive this honor.

Mr. Dominczyk, who practices in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, specializes in creditors’ rights law. He provides counsel and litigation services to financial institutions and law firms throughout the country for claims brought under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, the Fair Credit Reporting Act and various state consumer protection statutes.

Seminar to Address Collection Law Strategies

April 25, 2012 — Donald Maurice will be among a panel of speakers to discuss Collection Law Tips and Strategies at a one-day seminar sponsored by the National Business Institute on May 22, at the Clarion Palmer Inn in Princeton, NJ.

Maurice will discuss compliance with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and ethical issues in collection law. Other topics include enhancing collectibility, handling post-judgment legal concerns, and bankruptcy issues impacting collection law.

The seminar will provide continuing legal education credits to attendees.

Maurice Speaks at Consumer Financial Services Institute

April 12, 2012 — Donald Maurice spoke at the Practicing Law Institute’s 17th Annual Consumer Financial Services Institute in New York, NY on April 10.

Maurice discussed recent developments in collection and bankruptcy issues, including the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the latest on mortgage repurchase litigation and consumer claims in the wake of Stern v. Marshall.

May 15, 2011 — Donald Maurice spoke recently on two topics — baseless law suits and compliance — at the Spring Meeting of the National Association of Retail Collection Attorneys in Chicago, Ill.

Maurice was among a panel of attorneys who spoke on May 12 about how to get sanctions awarded when dealing with baseless law suits. Maurice spoke with Joseph Messer of Chicago and Frank Springfield of Birmingham, Ala. on the topic “Getting Sanctions Awarded in Consumer Litigation.”

On May 13, Maurice spoke with attorney Kenneth Wake of Chicago about “Protecting the Client’s Brand: Developing Compliance Programs to Deal with Today’s Hot Topics.” The program addressed compliance issues faced by law practices and their clients.

Maurice Named 2011 Super Lawyer
