April 25, 2014 — Donald Maurice has published an article in The Business Lawyer (Vol. 69, Issue 2) entitled, “Circuit Conflicts Create Uncertainty for Debt Collectors Under the FDCPA.” Maurice co-authored the article with law professor Laurie Lucas of Oklahoma State University and San Francisco attorney Tomio Narita.
The article discusses the divergent decisions of the circuit courts on claims filed under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the challenges facing the credit and collections industry as a result.

April 23, 2014 — Donald Maurice will participate in a May 29 webinar, “Defending Mortgage and Consumer Financial Services Class Action Claims.” The webinar will explore defense of residential and consumer financial services class action litigation, examining new cases, trends and strategies. Maurice will be speaking with a panel of litigators from across the country; panelists will answer questions following the live presentation. April 3, 2013 — Donald Maurice will discuss developments in the Telephone Consumer Protection Act at the Practicing Law Institute’s annual Consumer Financial Services Institute in New York on April 8, and in Chicago on April 29.
Maurice will speak with Beth Terrell of Terrell Marshall Daudt & Willie PLLC. In the seminar, they will examine class certification trends in TCPA litigation, telecommunications distinctions, the concept of consent, and more.
