Sept. 3, 2024 — Maurice Wutscher partner Donald Maurice has been appointed chair of the New York City Bar Association’s Consumer Affairs Committee. He will serve a three-year term on the committee whose mission is to provide a forum where those interested in all aspects of consumer affairs can share ideas and influence statutory reform.

The City Bar’s Consumer Affairs Committee examines consumer protection issues on the national, state and local levels, providing comment on public policy and legislation and organizing career development, continuing legal education and networking programs, often in collaboration with other City Bar committees.

“The Consumer Affairs Committee has played an important role in educating lawyers and the public on New York’s cutting-edge consumer protection laws along with policy and regulation at the federal level,” Mr. Maurice said. “It is an honor to work with the committee’s diverse group of thought leaders.”

In addition to monthly meetings, which include presentations from thought leaders in consumer financial services, advertising, and data privacy, the committee organizes an annual Consumer Financial Services Law Symposium which features high level speakers presenting on recent consumer protection case law, legislation, and regulation.
