In the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking, the CFPB is seeking comment on the use of a centralized repository. The webinar will discuss repositories and the questions posed by the ANPR including how repositories validate and store information; how they could be used as a tool for monitoring debt collection vendors; consumer access to information in a repository, including privacy concerns; use of a repository for enforcement and proof of registered debts in litigation, including whether title reports could be used to meet state law heightened pleading requirements; regulatory questions surrounding communications and document exchange with consumers through a repository; and privacy and security of data and information in a repository.
